SLM EDDM report (Specialty Products)
You do not need a mailing list for an EDDM mailer; you will be choosing USPS carrier routes during your ordering process. The minimum quantity requirement is 200 pieces. USPS will deliver one piece of your mailer to every home in the route. You only have the option to exclude businesses, no other customization to your mailing list is allowed. EDDM mailers do not include the recipient's name on the mailer unlike 1st class or standard class mail.

Regular vs. Priority EDDM Postage: Both options are an EDDM which means a single piece is delivered to every address on the postal route, the pieces are not addressed to the resident, and no mailing list is required for either option. The difference is that Priority EDDM arrives to the destination Post Office for distribution in 2 to 5 days after we complete the job versus 1 to 2 weeks in the case of regular EDDM and Priority EDDM has tracking to the local Post Office but note that individual pieces to the households can not be tracked.

List setup
The list must be in CSV format; we do not accept Excel. You will be required to upload your list after you upload your artwork. You can upload multiple lists and choose all of them to be combined and used for this mailing. You will need to map each column/field in your list for a certain purpose, e.g. you will map your field OWNER_FNAME to “First Name”. All the fields/columns you intend to use in this job must be mapped to a field. If your list has extra fields/column that is not needed for this job; you should leave them mapped as “Don’t include”.
Artwork
Upload a single PDF file with 2 pages, one page for the front and one page for the back. Please see the correct template for your size to make sure you leave blank the correct areas for addressing, postage indicia, and USPS barcoding.
- File format: We only accept PDF file format.
- Bleed/Edge to Edge Printing: All brochures regardless of size require a 1/16" bleed on all 4 sides. See more.
- Safety zone: We highly recommend having at least a 1/4" clear area on all four sides and placing all text at least 1/4" away from all edges.
- Fonts: Make sure all fonts have been outlined in your artwork so they don't change on the final print. See more.
- Color setting: Your files must be created in CMYK format; we print in CMYK ONLY. Make sure you set up your artwork or convert to CMYK format before uploading files, this will enable you to view the best color representation on your final printed piece. See more.
- Resolution: To have high-quality print, your photos and graphics should have at least a 300 DPI. See more.
- Small borders: We highly discourage outer borders smaller than 1/8", see more. We cut several stacks of sheets at a time, the slightest imperfection in the cut with jobs with very thin borders becomes obvious and can appear incorrect on final piece.
- Rich black ink: If you'd like your final printed piece to have the deepest black color, use the following formula: C=60, M=40, Y=40, K=100. If you leave K=100 it will still be black but not as deep. See more.
What is drop-shipping
EDDM mail is not traceable. Once we turn your mail over to USPS we cannot see the mail traveling in the mail stream and we do not know when it arrives at the final Post Office for distribution to household addresses. In most cases, everything goes well, however, if questions or concerns arise with your EDDM job we can only provide you with a mailing statement which you will use to work directly with the USPS. iti Direct Mail will not issue any refunds or credits due to USPS lack of performance.
We highly recommend that you select standard class or first-class postage, in lieu of EDDM, because it is trackable, however, you may consider our drop-ship service. Drop-ship service will ship your EDDM mail order on a pallet directly to the final Post Office that will be delivering your mailers. This service may greatly reduce USPS mail delivery issues. There is a nominal cost for this additional service.
Details about the program
If your entire EDDM mailer is destined to arrive at a single Post Office, then we can place your entire order on a pallet and use a private carrier such as FedEx to deliver your mail to the local Post Office. The private carrier obtains proof of delivery so that we will know when the mail has arrived at the local Post Office. All EDDM orders over 4,000 pieces automatically receive this service free of charge. For orders under 4,000 pieces, there is an additional fee. Request this additional fee on the price calculator and the additional fee will be added to your order after you have placed your order. This fee is $0.10 per piece for the shortage of the quantity of mailers that do not meet the minimum of 4,000 pieces. For instance, if you are mailing 2,500 pieces, then the quantity that is short to meet 4,000 pieces is 1,500 (4,000 less 2,500); The drop-ship fee will be calculated as 1,500 (shortage) multiplied by $0.10 or $150. Additionally, we address each mail piece with the city/state/zip and carrier route, so the piece is no longer a “generic” mail piece and it is marked where the mail is to be delivered. These additional steps should greatly reduce error rates by the Post Office EDDM delivery service.
