Mail Tracking

USPS mail is tracked using a barcode we print on mail pieces. These barcodes are scanned only in a few stages during the delivery process by high-speed sorting equipment and the results of those scans are reported back to us. Note that sorting for USPS only takes place in SCFs which are Sectional Center Facilities. No scanning or sorting takes place in smaller or local Post Offices. The results of the USPS tracking system are fair but by no means perfect nor are as reliable or accurate as what you’ve come to expect from package delivery services from other carriers. Packages are tracked much more reliably and most often involve a human carrier who obtains a signature upon delivery. USPS tracking system should not be used as proof of delivery. Over many years of experience, we have seen many times where pieces arrive but no tracking data is registered. iti Direct Mail provides tracking data as a general guideline so you can estimate your in-home delivery time to various areas you are mailing to. As per our Terms & Conditions, we are not responsible for any performance issues with USPS and we do not issue refunds or credits for any pieces that may appear as not delivered in the tracking reports.
